Your own search may lead you to ask the question: what is our existence?
You will have to find the answer yourself, feeling it by your own true sense within. Obstacles to understanding the meaning of life are many, and exist both in the external world and in our relationships to things. Further, our own identifications become a major hurdle in actualizing this search.
What are these identifications that we have? Continuous thoughts, unrelated to our own true self. Our state is continuously changing with our changing thoughts. I am Jitendra, and, whether you are David, Aslam, or John, we have to leap beyond our names, and all that we associate with them. Only then will we be able to see the big ocean instead of the frog pit.
In addition, whatever you find, here, in this present moment, keep it for yourself only. Keep it for yourself. Only then will you hold it within you, and not let it disappear like smoke.
Whether we live or die, it matters only if we take a step to know the Divine.
What do you think of your life? The life you are living is the life–or the dream–created from your birth to this moment. A dream that consists of thousands of thoughts from birth until now. This situation, and these thoughts, prevent us from leaping forward.
Our own leap will be to cross the wall between the unreal and reality, as depicted in the Ajanta caves, in the scene of Mara attacking Buddha.
The unreal manifests as the many thoughts. But here Buddha—who is, in reality, a steward—is sitting as One, with attention undisturbed. Mara does not touch him; he remains calm in the midst of the attack of Mara.
In each of our lives there is something that inspires us to look beyond the guise of everyday life. The motivation for this search can come from our own strong thirst, or someone pointing the way. Or we may search due to experiencing the usual stumbling blocks of life.
Who is this Mara attacking Buddha? What is unreality and reality?
It may take a man the full cycle of a completed life in order to get an explanation of these ideas. Life gives explanations for that which external life reflects. But true reality and unreality are rarely explained. This is a sign that the meanings are not external; they are an aspect of the inner dimensions of man.

An invitation comes, on whatever level we can understand. The One invites us to join him. The One who is inside, who wants to come out, whose mourning is silent, whose words are wordless.
Once you open this door and let the wind pass through, do not close it again. Just let it flow. The more you are empty, the more you will be filled.
